Race Summary for June 2nd
Crawley, Brock, and Edwards Take Columbus Clash Victories!
Columbus, MS - Saturday night Columbus Speedway hosted the "Columbus Clash" featuring USCS Winged Outlaw Sprints and USCS Modifieds as well as Super Late Models and other local divisions. Nearly 100 race teams would compete at The Bullring despite a widespread rain and the threat of rain which kept many race teams away.
Tim Crawley from Mabeville, Arkansas would charge from 8th place to win at the Baddest Bullring in the South in the USCS Outlaw Sprint feature event over Terry Gray. Gray would take second from Danny Martin, Jr. in the final laps, leaving Martin with 3rd place. Brian Bell and Derek Hagar completed the top five, with Dewayne Prince, Raymond Stull, Marshall Skinner, Buster Dickerson, and Don Young in the top ten.
Jason Brock of Vernon, Alabama would take the USCS Modified feature event win and $1,000 first place money over Columbus’ Jay Burchfield, Shane Stephens, Brandon Poppenheimer, and Lee Ray. Todd Gray, Trinity Wyers, Mark Stephens, Blake Koenigsberger, and Jeremy Russell rounded out the top ten.
Former track champion Shawn Edwards took his first Bullring win of 2007 in the Super Late Model division with a win over Jason Sanderford, Jim McDuffie, Dean Carpenter, and Anthony Rushing. Earning top ten honors in the division would be Jay Dickens, Kurt Radojcsics, Dewayne Estes, Terrell Stripling, and the legendary Jerry Inmon. Edwards of Louisville also set fast time during Midsouthracing.com Pole Qualifying with a 15.31-second lap on the smooth and slick 3/10’s mile high banked clay oval. Edwards would also take the $100 bonus for winning with Brown Engineering power taking home a cool $1,300 for his efforts on the evening.
Mark Stokes of Columbus would take his first Crate Late Model win over John Maxey, Carson Wallace, Chris Reed, and David Goins. Jeremy Glasgow grabbed the Late Model Stock win followed by Tim Davis, Cody Swink, Jody Guest, and Jamey Bouchillon. The always competitive Street Stock division saw the win go to Marvin Beard over Mike Barton and Danny Gable, and the Michael Pendley notched another Mini Stock win on Jonathan Cuttingham and Aaron Peay.

Columbus Speedway resumes action on June 16th with the Summer Racing Season with West Alabama Night at the Races. Alabama residents receive $2 off grandstand admission with proper ID. There will also be “Bikes at the Bullring night” with Bicycle races for the kids on the frontstretch. The fun show features the Rebel Challenge Super Late Models and all Weekly Racing Series classes.
