6TH ANNUAL REBEL CHALLENGE THIS WEEKEND!
Columbus, MS- The 6th Annual Brown Engineering Rebel Challenge at Columbus Speedway continues to grow as the event held March 9th and 10th at Columbus Speedway will see a record payout up for grabs. The fund raising event with all proceeds benefiting the Bobby Brown Scholarship fund will see Super Late Models gunning for over $14,000 possible to win in the sixth running of the event that is promoted by engine builder Robert Brown.
The race will have the $2,000 to win "Rebel Rouser 30" to get action kicked off on Friday night March 9th at 8pm plus the RCWRS Super Late Model Invitational paying $1,200 to win on Friday night plus local divisions. The weekend will conclude with the "Rebel Challenge 50" paying $10,000 to win plus the MRC Racing Apparel $1,000 bounty on "The Real Deal" Don O'Neal on Saturday night March 10th at 6pm. O'Neal has won over $31,000 in the last two major events at Columbus Speedway earning wins at the Magnolia State 100 and the Possum Town Grand Prix.
The Rebel Challenge weekend had traditionally attracted most all of the top local and regional talent along with nationally recognized drivers as well. Past winners during the event include defending champion Earl Pearson Jr, plus Clint Smith, Anthony Rushing, Scott Bloomquist, Shannon Babb, and Steve Russell.
Also as an added bonus on Friday night March 9th there will be the Rebel Challenge Weekly Racing Series "Members Only" Invitational presented by Mississippi One-Call that is exclusively for 2006 (last year) season RCWRS members only. This race for the RCWRS Super Late Models will be a 20-lap $1,200 to win and $100 to start event that will also reward 2007 RCWRS points. This will allow fans to see two Super Late Model main events on Friday night.
Local divisions competing in the Rebel Challenge will be the Open Wheel Modifieds running heats and features BOTH nights paying at least $600 to win Friday night and $800 to win Saturday night plus a $200 high point driver bonus from both nights of action.
