Columbus Speedway Season Opener This Saturday Night March 3rd!
Columbus, MS - The 2007 weekly racing season at Columbus Speedway gets kicked off in big way this March with traditional events that typically draw large crowds and exceptionally talented competitors from across the region. Racing action gets underway with the 2007 season opener this Saturday night March 3rd at 6pm featuring the 7th Annual Golden Triangle 20 Super Late Model main event. The Commercial Dispatch Super Late Models will be competing in Midsouthracing.com Pole Qualifying, heat races, and the 20-Lap Main event giving the fans more bang for their buck in 2007. The race is also the first 2007 Rebel Challenge Weekly racing Series points paying event of the year.
Fans and drivers alike will be greeted with physical changes as well including a new wall enclosing the high banked speed plant in turns 3 and 4. A fresh clay surface is expected to be in place as well making "The Baddest Bullring in the South" wilder and faster.
All the Columbus Speedway Weekly Racing Series divisions will be in action in the first points paying event of the season.
A stout field of race teams in all divisions is expected to be on hand Saturday night with hot laps at 5:30 and racing scheduled for a 6:00pm start. All local divisions also in action include Open Wheel Modifieds, Late Model Stocks, Stormpay.com Late Models, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks. Grandstand gates open at 4pm with racing at 6pm. Adult grandstand admission $12. Discounted tickets are offered for seniors 65 and over, active military, and students ages 11 to 18 admitted for only $10. Children ages 10 and under are admitted free. Pit passes are $25.
There will also be open practice session on Friday night March 2nd at 8pm with free grandstand admission.
