Columbus, MS-Racing action continues at Columbus Speedway this Saturday night June 3rd with the 6th Annual Premier Ford Columbus Clash as the O’Reilly USCS Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars National Tour will be in action on their final stop of the 2006 USCS Speedweek. The Premier Ford Columbus Clash will also feature the Commercial Dispatch Super Late Models, a Late Model Stock Championship, the rim riding Open Wheel Modifieds, and all other Columbus Speedway Weekly Racing Series divisions will be in action. A packed grandstand is expected for what is traditionally one of the biggest shows of the year at Columbus Speedway.
The O’Reilly USCS Sprint Cars are full sized and winged Sprint Cars that only weigh 1350 pounds and are powered by 700 horsepower fuel injected alcohol burning engines. The lethal power to weight ratio along with the large wings providing down-force allows these cars to reach phenomenal speeds; especially on notoriously fast high banked tracks such as Columbus Speedway. The Sprint Car race is a thrill show as much as a racing event on the wild 3/10’s mile high banked clay oval infamously known as “The Baddest Bullring in the South.”
Many of the top drivers in the south are expected to be on hand including current USCS point’s leader “The Bartlett Bullet” Terry Gray of Bartlett, Tennessee along with 18 year old teen racing sensation Ricky Stenhouse Jr of Olive Branch, Mississippi, plus “The Malabar Missile” Kenny Adams Jr from Malabar, Florida. Other top pilots of the wild USCS Winged Sprint Cars that are expected include Columbus’ Buster Dickerson, plus Sarasota, Florida’s Danny “The Hammer” Martin, Mike Ward, West Memphis, Arkansas hotshoe Marshall Skinner, plus many more of the best racers in the Mid-South. Race fans will get plenty of USCS Sprint Car action including the Power Dash, heat races, B-Mains, and the 30-lap main event.
Late Model Stock points leader Ruble Maxey battling TK King
The Late Model Stock division will have their summer championship as it will be a great opportunity to race in front of a large crowd for the $600 to win 20-lap main event. Competition in the class this season has been tough will drivers such as Ruble Maxey, Randy Cummings, Jason Sanderford, TK King, Scott Fulgham, Tony Shelton, Jerry Lucas, Jackson McCool, Roman Ponds, Richard West plus many more competing on a regular basis. The Late Model Stocks will participate in single lap Pole Qualifying, have an inversion of 0, 4, or 6 and then compete in the 20-lap feature. Complete purse information is listed on the online event flyer on the Columbus Speedway website.
