Dear Racers and Fans of Little River Speedway,
Saturday May 1, 2010 was a great night of racing in all classes for the fans and LRS appreciates all the dedication of the racers to be here every race night. Little River Speedway officials we’re put to the test for the first time of season with the street stock championship. This event paid $500 to win if ten cars entered, at 6:30 P.M. only nine had entered. LRS voted to go ahead and pay what was advertised even though there was only nine. All nine cars were visually inspected before the race and all passed by LRS rules, after the main event a special inspection was done by LRS due to the championship race.
A vacuum test was performed 15 minutes after the main event; this is where the long night started.
Andrew Barber #5 was the first one to cross the finish line and was to be checked first, due to the car not restarting ,LRS official moved to the second place finisher Shane Beason #56, it was checked at 13 inches of vacuum, which resulted in DQ. LRS then moved to third place finisher #65 Kevin Walls, also at 1000 rpms this car failed test also with 12 inches of vacuum. LRS then moved to fourth place finisher #77 which was running a two-barrel carburetor that didn’t have a place to check on it.
LRS then moved to fifth place car the #55 of Tommy Gorum which was the first one to pass the vacuum check at a perfect 15 inches of vaccum. LRS officials then moved to 6th place A7 of Alvin Gaddy, after test results Alvin was the second to pass test at 20 inches of vacuum at 1000 RPMs.
LRS returned to several cars numerous times to test in different locations of the intake and all results failed again. The #5 of Andrew Barber was not able to check due to not being able to restart for about 45 minutes , the car finally started and was asked to check it and he DQ himself by returning to trailer after being asked if he was ready to check it .
The #77 did not have a tach to check the rpms, he did pull 15 inches but the rpm is not known when doing so.
After a hour and 15 minutes of checking every car repeatedly including a stock Chevrolet truck in parking lot that pulled 21 inches of vacuum, only two cars passed tech.
