Earth Shaking Crates Steals The Show
Clanton, AL (April 17, 2010) – If you live off highway 22 in Clanton, you may have felt the earth shake on Saturday evening. Authorities verified that it was the crate division at Central Alabama Motor Speedway as they made their hot laps for the feature event.
The Barber Motorsports Crate Late Model/Sportsman division was truly the fasted cars on the track. Jimmy Thagard #24 of Greenville held the pole position for the feature event with Mike Fields #0 of Calera on the front row outside. Drivers made their one parade lap of the twenty-lap event before the green flag came out, then nothing but strictly racing business for the drivers. Thagard lead the first nine laps of the show with Fields trying hard to pass and on lap ten he got his opportunity. Thagard held the second spot for three laps then Sam Hughes #35 of Pelham was able to pass on lap thirteen. When the checkered flag was out, Fields took home the 1st place winnings, Hughes 2nd and Thagard 3rd. Every racing division was out in force and had the crowds in the grandstands at CAMS on their feet.
Central Alabama Motor Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, April 24, 2010 with all the regular divisions and the Little Speeders Bicycle Racers will be making their appearance on the track. There are two age groups for the Little Speeders, ages 4 thru 8 and 9 thru 12 with a purse and 1st thru 3rd Trophies. Bring the children and their bicycles. Bike helmets are required and a parent or guardian to sign in the participants. Gates open at 5 PM.
