Wells Takes The Checkers & The Track Bonus
Clanton, AL (April 10, 2010) – Cooler evening weather did not hold back fans and drivers from having a great family afternoon/evening outing with hot dirt track racing. Fans and drivers were lined up at the gates waiting for their turn to enter the facilities.
Fans were full anticipation after the hot laps and heat racing. Earlier in the week the track owner announced that he would give a $100 bonus to the feature winner from each division that had 10 or more cars. The L&L Forklift Hobby Car Division drivers arrived in force. After two heat races the field was locked in with 10 cars.
At the drop of the green flag for the feature event, the caution flag was brought out for Robert Lucas #44 of Montevallo, which had to be picked up by the wrecker and taken back to his pit area, this would cause a complete restart of the event. A second caution came again for Stanley Roper #14 of Montgomery that took him out of the event. Again, the fans witnessed a complete restart; this would move Daniel Lutz #1 of Montevallo and Brandon Wells #55 of Columbiana up to the front row. The green flag was in the air; Wells would take over the 1st place position. At the end of the first lap, it would be Wells 1st place, Lutz dropped back to the 3rd spot with Derrick Price #97 of Clanton taking the 2nd place position. Wells was white knuckle throughout the entire event, holding Price off from the 1st place spot. Through out the entire event, after the first lap there were only two additional cautions. When the checkered flag came out, 1st place was Wells taking home the guaranteed purse along with the $100 Track Manager Bonus to the feature winner, 2nd place went to Price and 3rd Place went to Brandon Till #20 of Clanton. This was Wells first win ever.
All of the racing divisions put on a nail biting show for the fans, with nothing but clean driving and competition.
