FASTRAK 500 HP engine trial “phenomenalâ€
FASTRAK was originally scheduled to test the ‘all new’ 500 HP spec engine at Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa GA this past Saturday night. As Mother Nature had its way, the race at Toccoa was rained out. The test was moved to Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA on Sunday afternoon.
"I was pleasantly surprised with the results" said Stan Lester of FASTRAK. "I think everyone was. The car qualified in 4th position and was running a very competitive 3rd and looking at 2nd on several occasions. There was an incident on a re-start that took out about six cars including that of the FASTRAK test team. It was just a racing incident. We did get to see what we wanted with the engine. It was competitive. That’s all we wanted to know".
Driver David McCoy stated the engine had as much throttle response as anything he had ever driven. "Man that thing takes off" said McCoy. "I never really did get to use all of it. I think we are really on to something here".
"I appreciate all the limited teams allowing us to compete there on Sunday" said Lester. Several teams commented on the engine afterwards and again, everyone was surprised. One team even stated that if this was the configuration we were going to end up with, they wanted to be the first one to place an order".
"It’s just a beginning. It’s hard to say where the final package will be at this point. We could add another 50 HP pretty easily and for practically the same amount of money. We'll take it one step at a time. The track today was in daylight so it was dryer than normal. That should have gone more our way; towards the smaller hp, that being the case. Next weekend we will be at Toccoa on a Saturday night so then we will know more. There are some really competitive race teams there and it will certainly serve as the real test".
Next scheduled test: Saturday MAY 9TH. Toccoa Speedway, Toccoa GA .
