Fort Payne Motor Speedway And Tubby's Pit Stop Team Up For Awesome Day At Race Track!
To start this post, the staff at Fort Payne Motor Speedway would like to thank Tubby's Pit Stop and TPS Graphics for their support and help with putting on the swap meet today. The turn out was better than expected and everyone had a great time.
Tubby Nunn, of Tubby's Pit Stop was over heard saying," I think we had a real good turn out. We will have to do this again...soon."
The day was overcast and there was a cool breeze blowing all afternoon. Pair that with the boiled pea-nuts and a 44 oz glass of sweet tea from the consession stand and you have a nearly perfect day at the race track.
The only thing that could top the day we had already enjoyed would have been to pull a few cars out on the track. So that's exactly what we did.
People came and went, but it looked like about twenty or twenty-five cars in attendance for our open practice which started at five o'clock and lasted until nine o'clock. We pulled the cars out onto the track based on class and everyone had an awesome time running and tuning on the cars.
There were a lot of new drivers trying to drive on the track for the first time and a lot of veterans putting on laps to set up new chassis set-up. Everyone worked together and over all it was quite like a family atmosphere. Even I got to pull out on the track a few times in various Hobby cars. (My first time in an eight cylinder car.)
We all just enjoyed ourselves and more than one driver was overheard saying that this is what racing is supposed to be like. Everyone left the track glowing because of the great time we had all just been a part of.
Fort Payne Motor Speedway will be back in action Saturday, October 4th with a full race program for the Super Late Models, the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Models, the A-Hobbys, B-Hobbys, and the Pony Stocks. Gates open at 5:00pm and racing scheduled for 7:30pm. For more information call (256) 623-7223 or visit the track web sight at www.fortpaynemotorspeedway.com.
Thanks again to Tubby and all the wonderful folks that turned out and helped make the swap meet and practice session a great success.
