TST & FT PAYNE CANCELED THEIR NESMITH RACES THIS WEEKEND BECAUSE THEY WERE AFRAID NO CARS OR FANS WOULD SHOW UP BECAUSE THEY COULDNT AFFORD THE GAS.
82 CARS @ BOYDS + HUGE CROWD
105 @ GREEN VALLEY + NORMAL CROWD
LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE!!!

I agree with you "dropprd the ball". Here is a response I posted on another forum in response to the announcement about cancelling the shows.
I kind of think this was more of a NeSmith call than a TST call. The post says that car count and attendance was record low this past weekend but I will beg to differ with that. The opening game for Alabama against Clemson the attendance was so low at TST that when I got there I thought they cancelled the races. They didn't cancel the next shows and gas prices were $4.00 a gallon a few months ago and they still raced. The car count at TST this past week wasn't low I mean there was about 22 or so crates and probably 18 sportsman (missed the super hot laps but nobody said car count was low I think 21). The stands were not as full as they are sometimes but it was early. Tst also didn't cancel their big 2 day Kart show they have scheduled next week. So I think they probably just agreed with a suggestion from NeSmith and Fort Payne Motor Speedway.
I will also agree with the above post about the rain Sat. night because I didn't see any rain but at the track. By the time I got to the interstate it was dry and I didn't see any all night but that doesn't mean it didn't rain at the track. They didn't try to get the show in like they did at the SAS show thats for sure.
