$25,000. to-WIN $1,000. START in GREEN VALLEY ALABAMA MARCH 2009
by: Steve Hixson
GADSDEN, AL (Sept. 23, 2008) - - Dennis Harker, the owner and promoter of the Green Valley Speedway, in Gadsden, AL announced this weekend he will pay $25,000. to-WIN, the final weekend in March 2009, for the 'CRATE NATIONALS' event. The announcement came during the drivers meeting, at Friday's Top Tracks Crate Challenge series event, by Harker, now 2+year owner of the refurbished and redesigned 3/8's mile clay banked dirt track in Northeast Alabama. The event will be contested over three nights, starting on Thursday, March 26th and culminating on Saturday, March 28th, with Sunday being set aside as a tentative raindate if necessary.
Since Harker had taken ownership of the multi-use facility, he has not only transformed the facility to provide more exciting side-by-side racing, he's promoted events that bring in top racer's from around the country. Just this season, NASCAR racer Kenny Wallace of Concord, NC was in attendance, two-time Dirt Track World Champion, Ronnie Johnson of nearby Chattanooga, Tennessee, and recent WORLD 100 winner Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Georgia have raced the BAMA CLAY. As far as Crate Late Model competition, the track has seen two-season's of the divisional action, both with the FASTRAK series and most recently with the NeSmith Chevrolet series.
The unique MEGA MONEY event; March 26th - 28th 2009, is sure to draw racers from all across the United States and possibly as far off as Canada, as most Northern facilities don't open up their tracks until the Spring. That fact, plus the ofference of $1,000. just to-START, the 'A' Main - 100 lap feature, should draw many racers to the event. No sanctions or entry fee details have been released, but pre-entries are expected to be released soon at the track web-site www.greenvalleyspeedway.com. As always the annual BAMA BASH will kick-off the GVS season in February 2009, details for that event are currently available on the web-site
