FORT PAYNE, AL – Fort Payne Motor Speedway will present a regular weekly show this Saturday night on the 3/8-mile clay oval with five stock car racing Divisions in action. The Fort Payne Motor Speedway Super Late Models, NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models, A Hobby Stocks, B Hobby Stocks, and Pony Stocks will be in competition.
Chad Stone of Section, AL leads the Fort Payne Motor Speedway Super Late Model point standings with 746. Brian Crider of Bridgeport, AL is second with 652 points, and Kyle May of Pisgah, AL is third with 554 points.
May has been a major story at Fort Payne Motor Speedway this year, as he began the season in the track’s B Hobby Stock Division where he won two feature races before moving up to the Super Late Model Division.
Last Saturday night, May had his best career Super Late Model finish when he battled with a pair of veteran drivers at the front of the pack. May finished just behind race winner Gar Dickson of Flintstone, GA, and beat Robert Gant of Flat Rock, AL for the second spot after an exciting side-by-side battle during the second half of the 25-lap race.
Jimmy Kay of Taylorsville, GA leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division standings with 1,212 points. Blake Stewart of Centre, AL is second, just 22 points behind Kay, with 1,190 points, and Lucas Burns of Attala, AL is third, just four points behind Stewart, with 1,186 points.
Crawford Watkins of Bryant, AL leads the A Hobby Stock Division standings with 948 points. Distaff driver Laura Hooper of Centre, AL is second with 730 points, and last Saturday night’s winner Matthew Coffman of Stevenson, AL is third with 676 points.
Darrell Wright of Woodville, AL leads the B Hobby Stock Division point standings with 558 points. Davey Arnold of Fort Payne, AL is second with 500 points. Arnold has had a “perfect season” at Fort Payne Motor Speedway because he has won five races in five attempts this season, and will be looking for his sixth straight this Saturday night.
Harold Lang of Albertville, AL is tied with Scott Wright of Fort Payne, AL for third in the B Hobby Stock standings, each with 368 points.
Brandon Wilbanks of Scottsboro, AL leads the Pony Stock Division point standings with 830 points, followed by Jeff Phillips of Scottsboro, AL in second with 566 points, and Jimmy Plumlee of Trenton, GA in third with 466 points.
This Saturday night, gates open at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for Adult General Admission and Children 12 and under are admitted Free.
