June 12, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Carnesville, GA).The momentum just never seems to stop as the
FASTRAK Late Model Touring Series starts off the $77,000 in total
purse money for the teams in the next 22 days. It all begins this
weekend from the previously rained at Georgia's Toccoa Speedway event
in a Southern/Mid-East combination Touring Series event Saturday,
June 16 paying $3,000 to-win.
Toccoa is a FASTRAK "weekly-sanctioned" track and has been so for the
last two years. "FASTRAK has done a great job for us," expressed
Toccoa Promoter Randy McCoy. "We have averaged over 17 cars per week
this year. This crate engine deal with FASTRAK is really taking
off. They are putting on great races and the class continues grows
every year. It's one of the few things actually growing in racing".
The Series continues to attract some of the best in the business like
Jack Pennington, Frankie Beard, Shanon Buckingham, Bill Morgan, David
McCoy, George Reese, Lee Cooper, and Timbo Mangum. The "young gun
gang" is probably one of the most promising features of the series.
Youngsters Jordy Nipper of Macon, Georgia in the 1N, William "Mr.
Smooth" Thomas of Phenix City Al in the 22, Chris "Fergy Time"
Ferguson of NC in the 22c, Travis Pennington of Winston GA in the
black 01, Brandon "Cornbread" Hailey from Lavonia, Georgia in the 51
car, AJ "Sideways" Watson in the 99 car of Loganville, Georgia and
the list just seems to grow every week.
"I am proud of our young guns," said FASTRAK founder Stan Lester. "I
really believe this is the best group of young talent anywhere in the
country. These guys are good, I mean really good. I have seen all
of them beat the "pros" at one time or another. There were several
NASCAR scouts from driver development programs at the Lowe's race
paying very close attention to these guys. I look forward to seeing
them move up one day. We will be right there to support them all the
way".
FASTRAK has proven to be one of the most competitive racing series in
the country this year as there have been 7 events resulting in 7
different winners. This weekend's event at Toccoa will certainly be
no different resulting in side by side racing through the entire
field on every lap.
