Goodyear To Increase FASTRAK Tire Production
AKRON, Ohio, May 9, 2007 - The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company announced today that it would immediately increase tire manufacturing for the FASTRAK Racing Series in order to address the growing popularity of the circuit.
"The growth and popularity of the FASTRAK series has outpaced our expectations as well as those of the series' management," said Justin Fantozzi, marketing manager for Goodyear racing. "That growth has also outpaced our supply. We will respond to the higher demand for our tires by increasing manufacturing immediately."
Goodyear's manufacturing adjustment will include shifts from other tire lines to focus on the additional products needed for FASTRAK, and the investigation of opportunities to increase overall production. Fantozzi added that FASTRAK teams will begin to see an increase in available race tires by the May 25 FASTRAK event at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the FASTRAK series of dirt-track racing. The tires for all of FASTRAK's competitive divisions are manufactured at the company's facility in Akron, Ohio.
One of the world's largest tire companies, Goodyear began its involvement with racing in 1901. Since then, Goodyear tires have dominated many forms of racing. Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier to NASCAR's top three series and a leading supplier to NHRA drag racing, sprints, sports car and off-road racing. Goodyear produces nearly a half-million race tires annually, all built in Akron, Ohio.
