FASTRAK "Fan Challenge" for Naming Rights to WYTHE RACEWAY'S $10,000
TO-WIN Labor Day Weekend Event; Winner gets FREE Weekend & VIP
treatment!
By Mike Leone
May 10, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Carnesville, GA).Wythe Raceway along with the FASTRAK Late Model
Touring Series have come to a mutual decision to allow you, the race
fans, the opportunity to name the upcoming $10,000 to-win event at
Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia over Labor Day Weekend. The
winning fan will win a weekend package including three-day passes for
Friday's practice, Saturday's qualifying events, and Sunday's main
event, which includes four seats in the VIP tower, plus two motel
rooms for Saturday and Sunday night.
One fan will be chosen that comes up with the Event name. Names
should be posted two ways, on the internet forum following this
release or e-mailed to office@fastrakracing.com. Please include your
full name and a phone number to contact you in the event you are
chosen as the winner.
"With the magnitude of this event we wanted to do something
different," explained FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester. "The fans are
just as much a part of FASTRAK as our drivers. They help make the
Series possible so that we can do events such like this that can pay
$10,000 to-win. Fred Brown of Wythe is the grand daddy of crate
racing as he runs both the FASTRAK Late Models and FASTRAK Modifieds
on a weekly basis. The location also makes this is the perfect place
to have such an event. Fred and I talked and decided we'd let the
fans name this event, thus the contest. The winning fan is going to
be treated like a king or queen!"
The fourth annual event was formerly known as "The Pro Late Model
Nationals". Although the event has been very successful in the past,
this years $10,000 to win spectacle is expected to draw a huge crowd
and a large car count. Fans and teams alike are already calling
about this event. Wythe is expecting a standing-room-only crowd in
the grandstands for Saturday and Sunday at a minimum. Fans should
bring lawn chairs just in case no regular seating is left. Wythe
Raceway has a large section for lawn chairs and blankets. The track
actually sits down below the grandstands so every fan can see the
entire track. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The food is
great and track owner Fred Brown recently spent over $100,000 on the
grandstand restrooms that even include attendants.
In addition to the normal Wythe Raceway activities, there will be
fireworks during the "4-wide salute to the fans," driver autograph
session, and the famous FASTRAK tennis ball toss with cash to the
fans. RaceTrackTv.net will also be on hand doing fan interviews in
the stands with views from a minimum of two in-car cameras and of
course all the action will be available either on DVD or at their
website for only $2.99 pay per view.
The anticipation continues to build quickly as drivers from all over
the Nation are expected to be on hand. The driver list continues to
grow daily. There will be a separate press release at a later time
to include expected drivers. The Southern and Mid-East Touring races
are included in this MAJOR event, the Northeast and Midwest Region
have rescheduled around the event, and both the Mountain and Great
Lakes are expected to participate as well. Drivers from all FASTRAK
regions will be allowed to use this National Event as one of their
point races as well.
One of the reasons for the incredible growth of the FASTRAK Racing
Series is that it has become so much more than just a race. It truly
has become something for people of all ages to enjoy. The racing
continues to get better and better each year.
Wythe Raceway was constructed in 1970 Fred Brown and B.C. Umberger
and is conveniently located on I-81 at Exit 60 in Rural Retreat,
Virginia just 10 minutes from junction of I-77 & I-81 at Wytheville.
The track is a ½-mile clay oval as turn one and two are banked 22
degrees with turn three and four degrees, and the straights 12
degrees. Elevation near 3,000 feet. Fans have a great view of the
race track plus great sunsets over the mountains.
