Columbus, MS-A huge weekend of racing will be the name of the game as the Crate Racin’ USA Fall Nationals will serve as co-headliner as part of the 7th Annual Possum Town Grand Prix at Columbus Speedway. The 3/10’s mile high banked clay oval affectionately known as The Baddest Bullring in the South has hosted some great Stormpay.com National Series events in the past two years with great racing and should be another classic for the series final event of the 2007 season on November 24th. This year’s event gets even better by adding the Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Invitational on Friday night plus the Race of Champions and Race of Regions on Friday and Saturday should only add to an already action packed weekend.
The weekend will feature no less than 4 feature events for the GM Performance crate engine powered Late Models. Three of the events during the weekend will be focused on the Weekly Racing Series competitors plus the Grand Finale’ for the Stormpay.com National Series (OPEN event) that will determine the National Touring Championship with $20,000 going to the series winner.
Please note: the $3,000 to win 40-lap Stormpay.com/Crate Racin’ USA Late Model Series main event Saturday night is open to ALL competitors.
The Friday night event and Race of Champions and Regions are for the Weekly Racers only. There will be a couple of hot lap sessions on Friday night for the National Series drivers that are not competing in the invitational but want some laps.
Drivers that are not a Crate Racin’ USA member may get temporary membership for only $25 or buy a membership for $100 that will be good for one calendar year from date of purchase; it is the participant’s choice.
A major focus of the event in addition to the chase for the National Series title between David Gentry, Derrick Rainey, and Jay Blair is recognition for the weekend warriors and those who have performed well at their home track and against their fellow regional competitors.
The $2,000 to win Invitational event on Friday night is for eligible drivers that finished in the top 6 of each region and track champions, and the top 6 drivers in points from each member track. A total of 120 drivers received invitations for the prestigious event. Weekly racer versus weekly racer!
The $500 to win Race of Regions features the top 6 drivers from each region (18 total racers) gunning for the first place prize and championship trophy.
