Dennis Erb Wins Brownstown WOOLMS Show, Runs Strong at I-96!
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb continued his recent hot streak last
Wednesday night, May 16 at the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana!
Dennis claimed the top prize in the $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late
Model Series show after posting the fifth fastest time in qualifying and
winning his heat race. Following the preliminary action, he drew the number
one pill in the redraw and rolled off for the 50-lap A-Main from the pole
position.
After being challenged early in the race by Don O'Neal, Dennis drove the low
groove of the historic speedway to perfection and started stretching his
lead. With only a few early caution periods, Dennis was forced to work
lapped traffic to perfection during the latter stages of the race to get the
win. He was able to hold off Earl Pearson, Jr., Don O'Neal, Shannon Babb,
and Billy Moyer to take his second career World of Outlaws Late Model Series
checkers and the $10,000 payday!
The action then turned to the I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan on
Friday evening, May 18 for another World of Outlaws Late Model Series event.
The Carpentersville, Illinois native finished second in his competitive
heat race at the Wolverine State oval after setting the fifth quickest time
in qualifying. During the course of the feature, Dennis ran up front
throughout the $10,000 to win show and after fifty green flag racing laps,
he was credited with a solid third place performance behind winner Chub
Frank and runner-up Josh Richards. You can read about the Brownstown and
I-96 races online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.
Dennis' busy week concluded on Saturday with the annual 'Spring Shootout' at
the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series sanctioned the $10,000 to win event at LaSalle on Saturday and a very
strong field of cars were present at the 1/4-mile oval. Dennis' recent
string of top performances was snapped at LaSalle after he broke a swing arm
mount on his #28 Rayburn during the heat race. He wound up ninth in the
heat and could only get up to seventh during the running of the B-Main.
Unfortunately, Dennis and his team were forced to sit out the 50-lap 'Spring
Shootout' feature event.
"It was great to get another World of Outlaws win at Brownstown last week,"
commented Erb recently. "Our car worked very well there and everything went
our way including drawing the pole position for the feature. Then at I-96,
it was good to run with that kind of competition on a big track. We have
been good on the smaller tracks so far this year, but that showed that we
could be competitive on the bigger tracks as well. Unfortunately, LaSalle
did not go so well, but those things happen. I would have much rather had
that swing arm mount break during a heat race like it did then have it break
while I was leading Brownstown or running up front at I-96."
The Dennis Erb Racing team will now turn their focus to a very busy week of
Dirt Late Model racing, which will kick off tonight, May 22, at the Fairbury
American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. In all, Dennis is scheduled
to compete in five events this week throughout Illinois and Missouri. His
