Josh McGuire Claims I-77 Checkers; Earns Several Other Strong Finishes!
(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire and his #41 team had a very consistent
weekend, as they racked up a win, a runner-up finish, and a third place run
in the three Dirt Late Model feature events that they entered last weekend!
Josh was able to reach victory lane on Saturday, May 19 at the I-77
Motorsports Park in Fairplain, West Virginia in a $1,000 to win event.
After setting fast time for the weekly show and finishing second in the
dash, Josh took the win in the A-Main over Freddie Carpenter, Tim Dohm,
Travis Brookover, and Rick Williams.
The Ashland, Kentucky native also competed in the rain-postponed 'Spring 40'
earlier in the evening at I-77. He found himself at the front of the field
at the drop of the green flag for the 40-lap feature event, but a hard tire
selection hampered Josh's efforts. At the end of the $2,500 to win race,
Josh found himself credited with a respectable third place finish behind
winner Rick Williams and runner-up Tim Dohm. You can view full results from
these shows online at www.racei77.com!
Earlier in the weekend, Josh was in action at the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal
Grove, Ohio on Friday evening, May 18. He laid down a lap matched by no
other during qualifying, as he toured the Rocky Top facility in 14.542
seconds. He then ran third in the dash to earn the inside second row
starting spot for the 30-lap, $2,000 to win A-Main. Josh also had a strong
car throughout the course of the feature event, as he led several laps and
wound up second behind winner Rod Conley. To learn more about this show,

"It was a very good weekend for us," quoted McGuire in a recent telephone
conversation. "We ran strong at Rocky Top all night and nearly got that
win. Then at I-77, I was on way too hard of tires for the Spring 40 and
fell back to third. I learned from that and put on the right tires for the
regular show held later in the night. Hopefully, we can continue to field
competitive cars in the MACS shows this weekend and throughout all of the
Kentucky Speedweeks events."
