By now most of us are aware that DST goes into effect this Sunday, which is three weeks earlier than in years past - it will also end one week later than previous years. What you may not realize is that your computer and many other electronic devices don't know about that. For most home computer users it should just be simple matter of changing the system clock on Sunday morning. However, there could be some issues with some software because of this change. The following link has some info about this... isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=2142There is quite a bit of info about it from Microsoft as well... support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dstThere is a lot of reading in both of those links, and a lot of it probably won't apply to most of us. If you happen to have a new PC that is running Windows Vista, you don't have to worry about it because it is already encoded into Vista. If you are running a version of Windows XP, Microsoft has an update patch available (see the MS link above) - although you need make sure that your XP has Service Pack 2 installed. If you are running an older version of Windows, such as 2000, ME or 98, Microsoft does not offer a patch for this. Fortunately, there is a place that does... www.intelliadmin.com/Downloads.htmLook in the Freeware Downloads section for the two Daylight Saving Time Fix links.
