‘Bizkit’ Joins PMC Motorsports For ‘06
By Doc Lehman
After completing a decade in dirt racing Cullman, Alabama’s Kelly ‘Bizkit’ Hanvey, one of the south’s more popular regional racers, has a new deal and new outlook for 2006. For the new season Hanvey will be a hired gun for PMC Motorsports and the team will run a schedule based on regional racing in the deep southeast. Haney struck a deal several months back with PMC Motorsports owners Chad & Shelly Cowley to drive the team’s Mastersbilt Race Cars. The team is preparing cars and have already signed on sponsorship support with Mastersbilt Race Cars, Performance Connection Engines, American Racer Tires, Palatek, Elk River Trailer Sales, Duane Crab Race Bodies and Performance Suspensions. PMC Motorsports is based in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
“I had a guy wanting to buy my stuff about mid season and Chad I had talked about getting together,” explained Hanvey when asked how the new deal came together. “So it just seemed like it was the way the Lord was leading me. The good thing about driving for PMC Motorsports, is that me and the car owners, Chad and Shelley Cowley were friends prior to the arrangement. I still have a little bit invested in the team, some wheels, shocks and transmission, those kinds of things. I was also able to bring over my engine deal and tire deal. All of this made it easier for Chad and Shelley to want me, I guess (laughs)!”
“The not owning the stuff and making 100% of all the decisions, Chad is a pretty good chassis guy, is taking some getting used to. I'm not real sure when and how much I should say, sometimes. But I think once we get to racing and learn each other’s quirks better we are going to be a real threat to win. I'm excited, I can tell you that much, more so than any other year.”
Hanvey is more than happy with the scheduling the team is planning. “We plan to hit many regional shows that pay $2500 or better,” revealed Hanvey. “We really have no intentions of just running one track, but really aren't wanting to get out to anymore than maybe five tracks this season while were learning to jell. But if it pays more than $2000 grand and the track hasn't sold there soul to one tire company. Look for the #32 Mastersbilt of PMC to be there!”

PMC Motorsports, thus named for the Cowley’s two-year-old daughter, Paisley Marie Cowley, is the perfect match for the well-respected Hanvey. “Chad, Shelley and Paisley Cowley are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet,” stated Hanvey. “My wife and Chad's wife have fast become the best of friends and that makes it easier on everyone if the woman are happy (laughs)! Their daughter Paisley is such a wonderful little girl, blonde hair, blue eyed, and Chad and Shelley are doing such a wonderful job of raising her. How often do you see children that age that will not mind their parents? Well let me tell, that little girl has her dad wrapped around her finger, but she also listens and does exactly as he says. Which is just crazy with her only being two years old. I tell ya,
Doc, not only do I have some really nice racecars, but also (Hanvey’s wife) Kerry and I have some new best friends!”
Hanvey, once he made the decision to part with most of his equipment and climb into the PMC Motorsports Mastersbilt #32 for 2006, was delighted that his own supporters approved the move. “Before I sold my team I went to my sponsors and ask them if they would follow me over to this new team,” commented Hanvey. “Well once I explained that Chad had new cars and some pit crew help and a few of his own sponsors they were in. So
once again I will be running some the best engines in the business from a fellow that has almost become a dad to me, Terry Burnett at the Performance Connection. Terry not only gives us some of the best on most reliable horse power, he is also that person I can call up and bounce stuff off of.”
“Also we will have Jimmy Smith race tires back. Brian Key at JSRT has been so good to me over the past few years. He is also one of those guys that always keeps us abreast of the ever changing side of technology in
dirt Late Models. Also helping PMC Motorsports this season will be Duane Crab race bodies, Palatek and Elk Valley Trailer Sales.”
“Our goals or really simple in 2006. Win every race we are in (laughs)! Seriously though win as many as we can and also learn to be a really good team this season in hopes of bigger and better stuff in 2007.”
