CNN Documentary Being Readied For Airing
By Doc Lehman
With most if not all post-production completed on the special CNN PRESENTS television documentary on dirt Late Model racing it’s just a matter of time before the documentary airs over CNN. And while an airdate will soon be announced many race fans, drivers, series officials, manufacturer’s reps, promoters and nearly everyone involved in some way with dirt Late Model racing anxiously awaits for the premiere broadcast. This could be a real boon and benefit for dirt Late Model racing, giving it huge exposure on a national and international level.
But there is one thing that could help the cause of bringing dirt Late Models mega-exposure: If CNN would get behind this particular show and pull out all stops in hyping, promoting and advertising this particular documentary. CNN has vast marketing, promotional and advertising resources and it would likely benefit the sport to have as many ‘mainstream’ people tuning in to watch the broadcast as possible, far beyond the dirt racing community.
CNN has the resources to advertise and promote this broadcast through CNN and all their affiliate stations (TBS, TNT, etc…) in addition to mainstream newspapers (USA Today) and magazines (Sports Illustrated). This is a golden opportunity to get maximum exposure for the sport itself. The question is how do we encourage CNN to put their promotional/marketing/advertising muscle behind this broadcast?
They say the pen is mightier than the sword and in this age of ‘electronic penmanship’ we are only an email away from making our voices heard and our opinions known.
We at Dirt America Online, Dirt Nation™ and Dirt Racers Radio would like to encourage the fraternity of dirt Late Model devotees to take a couple moments and email the movers and shakers at CNN and respectfully request they market, promote and publicize the dirt Late Model documentary prior to the airdate. Believe me, they read the emails and take each one into consideration. It would be nice to see the dirt Late Model world unite and contact CNN and politely ask for them to really get behind this documentary in a big, big way so the dirt Late Model world, as a whole, will get more bang for the buck when this program airs.
We need as many people around the country and the world tuning in for this documentary.
Please feel free to submit your requests that CNN use their resources to give this documentary a massive promotional push via email to:
