hi to everyone who comes to this forum. I would like to start off by saying that i am brand new to the sport. I have watched it for years but have never raced but have had family and friends who have. I recently just bought a 99 Rayburn late model with everything but motor, tranny and radiator. I know some about motors but nothing really technical but will be taking classes here shortly. I know some about the cars but not enough to get me started and on the race track. I am asking for anyones help in this matter and im sure there will be alot of people saying that im stupid or crazy for buying a car and not knowing anything about it but the way i look at it is you have to learn sometime and i would much rather learn before i get on the race track. I will be racing limited late model due to never racing before and am hoping that is a good class to start with. I eventually would like to move up to super late models in 10 years when i retire from the military. I am hoping i get alot of responses to this as i really do care about this sport tremendously and am just trying to be like any other person out there who loves it as much as i do. Thank you all for any info you might be able to give me.

Maybe you should have chosen a lower class to start off with. Limited late model is a very fast and expensive class. An engine alone can cost as much as $12,000 to $15,000 to run up front. But since you have already purchased the car I guess you may as well jump in with both feet.

I agree with oldtimer, maybe LLM wasn't the best to start off with. Have you already bought a motor?? If not, it's not too late to start in SportsmanB/Crate depending where you are racing. It's a lot cheaper and there are a lot of rookies in that class. I have friends that run it and you can get a crate engine for around 3 grand or so. Just a thought. I do have a tip for you, start in the back, and don't try to pass anyone for a while. You'll make more friends that way!!! lol Good luck!
