Dixie Speedway Blasts off into 2006 with Special Events in March
Woodstock, GA. Dixie Speedway is preparing for engines to fire for the first time in 2006 with a scheduled practice and “Open House” on Saturday night, March 11 which will be followed by the 3rd Annual Spring Championships on Saturday night, March 25.
“Everyone seems to be really excited about the 2006 racing season. We’re excepting all the drivers and teams to return from last year along with many new ones as we’ve sent out more rulebooks the ever before. In addition, the track has been completely resurfaced and refreshed for the upcoming season, so multi groove racing should be the norm,” said track VP and General Manager Mike Swims.
Admission in the grandstand is free on Saturday night, March 11. All the fans are welcome to come check out the action with all divisions including Econo Bomber, Super Bombers, Cruisers, 4 Cylinder Pony Stocks, Sportsman, Limited Late Models, and Super Late Models.
Each class will practice separately and get several sessions during the rotation order of divisions in the schedule. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps and all should conclude around 11 PM. Gates will open at 5 PM with activity beginning at 7 PM. Trackside /fence admission is $10 per person and pit passes are $15 each.
The 3rd Annual Spring Championships will get the green flag 2 weeks later Saturday night, March 25 with all the same divisions competing for over $30,000 in prize money. The Super Late Model 50 Laps feature event pays $3000 to win. The Limited Late Model 20 lap feature event pays $600 to win. The Sportsman (crate only) 20 Lap race pays $500 to win. The Super Bomber division 15 Lap race will pay $400 to win and the Econo Bomber division 15 lap race pays $300 to win. The Cruiser and the Pony stock division races are 15 laps and each pay $200 to win. A Spring Champions trophy will be awarded to the winner of each division.
Admission prices for the March 25 Spring Championships are as follows: Grandstand: adult - $15, ages 9 – 17 $5, kids 8 and under are free. Trackside / fence admission is $20 per adult and $10 per child. Pit passes are $25 per adult and $10 youth privilege.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series roars into town for a rare springtime appearance Saturday night, April 8 at 7 PM. The race billed “The Jimmy Mosteller Classic” will be a national championship Super Late Model event paying 10,000 to the winner from a $50,000 purse. Fans can except to see the best of the best compete such as 2005 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion Earl Pearson Jr., along with the “Real Deal” Don O’Neal, the Million Dollar Man Donnie Moran, The Southern Gentleman Freddie Smith, with many more as they challenge the hometown heroes of Dixie Speedway like 2005 Dixie and Rome Speedway Champion Tim Day, along with Fast Frank Ingram, Smokin’ Phil Coltrane, 2005 Dixie and Rome Speedway points championship runner-up Kenneth Westmoreland, Dixie Southern All Star winner Dusty Chitwood along with many more regional champions from across the south east as over 60 Super Late Models are expected. Local support divisions to be announced.
Monster Trucks take center stage on Friday and Saturday night, April 21 & 22 with Grave Digger, Bigfoot and many more.
The official 2006 Season Opener is set for Saturday night, May 6 and begins the “every Saturday night” season and the 2006 Points Championship for all divisions.
2006 reserved season tickets are available for $275.00 each. This privilege included admission to all Dixie Speedway events (except the Oct 7 Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout) Reserved seats of choice with be saved for the entire season.
