Woodstock, GA. (July 18th) – The stars were in alignment Saturday night for Craig Scott, of Newnan, GA as the driver scored his first victory in the Super Late Model division at Dixie Speedway.
Scott was able to hold off challenger Ricky Williams in lapped traffic and led the entire distance for the win. As the checkered flag fell, Steven Endicott, also of Newnan, slipped by Williams beating the veteran driver by inches at the line for a second place. Williams settled for third and was followed by Jody Knowles and Frank Ingram. Craig Scott set fast time.
In the Limited Late Model division, Oliver Gentry collected his second win of the season. Early leader, Mike McConnell, followed in second trailed by Bobby Tucker, Mark Bunch and Jason Smith to complete the top five.
Jimmy Long of Canton took the win in the Crate Late Model class claiming his first victory at Dixie Speedway since 1990. Chuck Padgett raced his way from the rear of the starting field to challenge Long, but was forced to settle for to second. Ellijay’s Bo Stanley Jr also came from the rear to grab third followed by Alan Brewer and Tyler Millwood.
Greg Ledford returned to victory lane once again after taking another Super Bomber feature. Roy Patterson made the charge through the field for second, but was never able to over take Ledford. Russell Schell took the third spot followed by Corey Hillman and Chris Sizemore.
Johnny Morrison found his way to victory lane Saturday by winning the Economy Bomber feature. Justin Shipley raced his way from back of the sixteen car filed to finish second. Jimmy Fetterman, John Binger and Timmy Millwood finished third through fifth respectively.
The Pony Class Championship had 35 entries battle for the trophy. At the checkered flag, Grady Stokes was named the winner after the first place car was light at the scales. Benton Morris drove his way into second followed by Clint Leatherwood, Dan Bennett, and Randy Brady rounding out the top five.
In the Cruiser division, the team of Guy Robinson and Robert Combs took the checkered flag. Adam Ledford won an exciting night of spectator racing.
The next event at Dixie Speedway will be Saturday night, July 25 with a full racing program with action beginning at 7:30 PM. Rome Speedway will be in action Sunday night, July 26 with a 40 lap Super Late Model Championship paying $3,000 to win plus racing in all other divisions.
