FASTRAK Doubleheader Weekend Fast Approaching
Carnesville, GA (July 15) Friendship Speedway in Elkin, NC and Wythe Raceway outside Rural Retreat, VA are the sites of FASTRAK’s next two Southern Touring race events. Friendship’s Friday night action will have the winner grabbing $2000 of the purse, while Wythe’s winner will add $3000 to the July payout sheet.
Even though some FASTRAK teams are beginning to think about Eldora Speedway, many touring pros know that wins at Friendship or Wythe can pay the bills to go to Eldora for the FASTRAK “Chassis Challenge” at month’s end.
Like most of the local late model drivers at a touring stop, Friendship’s driver’s want to win one over the touring pros as well.
“Even though we’re not a sanctioned weekly FASTRAK track, we have a great working relationship with the series.” Stated Friendship’s General Manager, Dennis Wood. “If it’s anything like the last visit in 2008, people better get here early and be prepared to watch the entire track, because they’ll be side-by-side all the way around our 3/8’s mile red clay.”
Whenever the FASTRAK Racing Series visits Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat VA, there always seems to be a noticeable difference in the way race teams approach an event here on Wythe Raceway’s high banks. The track surface has always been near perfect in the 10 or so visits the FASTRAK Racing Series has made to the Southwest VA facility over the years, to where track conditions are seemingly never a concern. As a result of the stellar reputation the track has earned, even drivers making their first visit to Wythe come armed with some level of comfort on the basis of what others have said. For the most part, the overall consensus of just about everyone is, when you come to Wythe, it’s going to be exciting and from the driver’s perspective, it’s going to be fun.
The action starts at Friendship Motor Speedway at on Friday when the pits open at 4pm and Grandstands at 5pm. And, it’s sure not to end until the final A-Main checkered flag at Wythe Raceway on Saturday night.
Fans, race teams and officials will enjoy the FASTRAK “HOST Hotel” for the weekend. The Sleep Inn in Wytheville, WV will once again be the accommodations of choice for FASTRAK teams. Call the Sleep Inn at 276-625-0667 for the FASTRAK rate and reservations for both nights.
An autograph session is being planned for both races at the FASTRAK Souvenir trailer. So visit the FASTRAK trailer and look for autograph session times each day.
