CLINT SMITH WINS SUPER LATE MODEL CHAMPIONSHIP RACE
AT ROME INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
Rome, GA (Sunday June 28, 2009) – Clint Smith grabbed the race lead from early race leader Craig Scott on lap fourteen and cruised the final twenty-six circuits for the win in Super Late Model action at Rome International Speedway in Rome, GA on Sunday Night.
Jamie Perry finished in the second spot with Jody Knowles third. Craig Scott held on for a fourth place finish with Robert Gant rounding out the top five.
Scott jumped to the early race lead, from the start of the forty-lap feature event, and led the first fourteen laps before Smith made a move to the outside and around for the lead.
Smith would never really be challenged again holding on for the win in the Super Late Model Championship Race.
In other Rome Speedway action, Mike McConnell won the twenty-lap Limited Late Model feature over Jason Smith in second and Oliver Gentry third.
Chuck Padgett led all twenty-laps of the Crate Late Model feature to pick up the win over Tyler Millwood in second and Jeff Smith third.
Justin Shipley picked up the Econo Bomber feature event win over John Binger in second and Daniel Brewer third.
Dan Bennett won the Pony Car feature event over Benton Morris in second and Brice Lovitt third.
James Gagnon survived to pick up the wild Cruiser feature event win over Eric Neese in second and Jerry Barnes third.
