Woodstock, GA (June 20th) – Fayetteville, GA’s Ricky Williams captured the Super Late Model victory Saturday night at Dixie Speedway. Jake Knowles qualified on the pole, but spun a four on the invert wheel putting him in the fourth starting spot advancing Luther Jenkins and Williams to the front row.
At the green, Jenkins lead for the first five laps before he was over taken by a hard charging Jake Knowles. Midway through the race, Knowles suddenly slowed and pulled in to the pit area with a broken wire ending his night. Williams took over the lead spot and led the way to the checkered flag. Jody Knowles followed in second. Lee Sutton claimed the third spot followed Bill Peters and Tracy Watson.
Jeff Smith led every lap and claimed the top spot in the Limited Late Model class division. This was Smith’s first career victory at Dixie Speedway and dedicated the win to track worker Corey Haney who lost his life in an on track accident in 2003. Bobby Tucker followed in second with Mike McConnell, Jason Smith, and Oliver Gentry rounding out the top five spots.
Chuck Padgett took his first victory since 2007 in the Crate Late Model division Saturday night. Scottie Pritchett followed in second, with Jimmy Long, Michael Page and Tyler Millwood rounding out the top five.
In the Super Bomber division, Greg Ledford took the win. Chris Sizemore, who started eighth in the field, challenged Ledford for the lead but had to settle for second. Roy Patterson finished in third while the fourth and fifth went to Russell Schell and Zack Cleghorn.
Timmy Millwood used the pole position to his advantage and captured his second win of the season in the Economy Bomber class. Johnny Morrison raced his way from his eighth place start to claim second, followed closely Rob Johnson in third. DJ Murdock fought his way to fourth and Cody Richards rounded out the top five.
The Pony class action had close racing along with several lead changes before Grady Stokes took the checkered flag. Von Casey, a career best finished in second place. Shannon Etheridge finished third followed by Zack Minielly. Ross Baines, winner of the last three weeks, finished in fifth.
The team of James Guilfoil and Larry Staton took the Cruiser victory. Ken Ledford outran all Spectator entries for the win, while JH Ingram outlasted approximately 20 cars to win the season’s first demolition derby.
The next race at Dixie Speedway is this Saturday night, June 27 at 7:30 PM as the track celebrates its 40th Anniversary with a full stock car racing program and a gigantic fireworks display.
