after waiting 10 minutes in line after the race before mine ( engine running) for some direction to enter track, and after sitting on the track waiting to line up ( engine still running) lining up as directed, when a wheel fell off a car, lets wait some more, (engine still running) burning gas (8 lbs a gallon) ok lets race. mind u the track had the total amount of less than 1 cup of water, ( no mud) the laps were cut down to 10 green, after finishing 3rd . TIMMY THE TECHMAN, called me lite by 10 pounds. worse the winner was dq'ed also by less than that. now its my responibility to weigh enough. i know, but after getting a bar knocked off and not being able to weigh it was dead wrong. and we wonder why there are fewer and fewer cars at the track, if the laps were run as posted and not shortened we would have made weight , or if any water was put on track we would have been 150 lbs over as we have been every other week. all i am asking for is maybe a little common sense on the tech mans part. when penton closes and it will, lets all call timmy and say thanks, after racing at penton for 20 years , yes 20 years , enough is enough. 2 more wont be back from the valley. congrats to brandon on his championship. and by the way its SCHEDULE get a spellcheck!

FIRST OFF I DONT WANT TO SOUND LIKE A BUTT OR TAKING UP FOR PENTON BUT THEY WERE IN THE RIGHT ON THIS ONE. EVERYBODY KNOWS THERE WEIGHT BEFORE SEASON STARTS, I KNOW YOU SAID THIS. WHEN YOU SCALED YOUR CAR YOU KNEW WHAT IT WEIGHED, WHEN YOU ROLLED OFF THE SCALES AFTER HOT LAPS AND HEAT RACES YOU KNEW WHAT IT WEIGHED ALSO. AS YOU SAID THERE WAS NO MUD ON THE TRACK. WE WERE KICKING UP DUST ON HOT LAPS. 20 POUNDS OF LEAD WILL NOT THROW YOUR PERCENTAGES OFF THAT BAD PLUS THE WAY THE TRACK WAS IF PUT IN THE RIGHT SPOT WOULD HELP. IF YOU HAVE BEEN RACING FOR 20 YEARS YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT ON NIGHTS LIKE THAT THERE IS NO MUD TO GET. I HATE THAT YOU GOT THROWN OUT BUT YOU WERE IN THE WRONG. I DONT SEE WHY THERE WAS A PROBLEM. YOU ALSO CAN CUT THAT ENGINE OFF WHEN NOT RACING, IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO BE CLOSE ON WEIGHT. I AM NOT IN LOVE WITH THE WAY PENTON DOES ALOT OF THINGS BUT I'M SORRY I DONT SEE YOUR POINT ON THIS ONE.

car weight after heat was 23 lbs over. added 4 gallons of gas and 2 bottles of rear end dope. after heat race. true could have cut off car. wasnt sure it would crank so didnt, besides didnt want to hold up show for a wrecker push off.it would have been 3 times at least i needed a push off, what gripps me is not being able to weigh bar that got knocked off in wreck cause he said no, you didnt race with it. came on track with it, i guess i should have stopped and put it in there with driver while racing . real safe . if i come to track 70 or so pounds lite yeah im trying to cheat, but come on 10 lbs, get real. the car that won has a roll bar on the outside between the tires timmy told them to remove it week 1 but its still there, knocking the crap out of everyones car. but i guess thats ok , just give a fellow a few benefits of the doubt, crap only 4 cars finished. thats my point , maybe i didnt convey it well enough. but you can bet we have been shafted for the last time, may not bother anyone but atleast i have vented.

Ex penton fan i would have to agree with penton racer on this one. every track you go to will say they weigh the car as it leaves the track. i got thrown out at The Valley because i lost the hood in an accident and was 2 lbs light. that is the rule any where you go. i didnt like it but that is how it is. now my car weighs 40lb heavy just in case. SINCE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE 52 CAR. I KNOW THIS CAR AND HAVE HELPED WITH IT. JUST SO YOU KNOW THEY HAVE CHANGED SOMETHING ON THAT CAR EVERY WEEK FOR THE LAST 5 WEEKS BECAUSE TIM WANTED THEM TO. EVEN THOUGH THIS CAR HAS BEEN THE SAME FOR THREE YEARS. 1 THEY HAD A LIGHT WEIGHT METAL NOSE PIECE ON FRONT. TIM SAID HE WANTED PLASTIC. 2 IT WAS CHANGED TO PLASTIC TIM SAID IT HAD TO BE A MOLDED NOSE. 3 THE BARS THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WERE MOVED TO THE CENTER OF THE DOOR ON BOTH SIDES, TIM SAID AS LONG AS THEY DID NOT STICK OUT PAST THE TIRES AND DIDNT HAVE ANY SHARP EDGES THEY WOULD BE OK. AS I SAY AGAIN I HATE YOU GOT THROWN OUT BUT I DONT SEE YOUR PROBLEM.

We at Penton truly appreciate the fact that the Barbers have raced at Penton for 20 years, we truly do. But I guess since they have raced for 20 years I am supposed to play favorites or give concessions. Yes our procedure is if you raced with out a part, then you can NOT add it at the scales later. Last season Richie Stephens had a piece of lead fall off his car, and picked it up on the track his self, and I would not let him weigh with it, but fortunately for him he weighed enough without it. If the Barber's choose not to come back to Penton, then that is their choice, if they do not like the technical decissiions being made, then Iwill gladly let one or both of them have my job, or talk with the Edges and have me fired. I may be a jerk or or A-hole, but I do my best to be the same jerk or A-hole with everyone, even those who have raced there for 20 years. In the Barber's defense I am not sure what caused them to be light, if it was the lack of mud, or forgot to put gas in the car, or what. I have never called them cheaters nor will I. They have passed tech more than not, from tear downs to weighing or what ever. We hope to see them back, but if not we hope they are happy in all their future endeavors.

whine, whine, whine, would you like some cheese to go with your whine!!!.........i just have a couple of things to say here. 20 years of racing and you still race in the beginners class..whats up with that? however you would think that even the beginners understand that in order to compete you must FOLLOW THE RULES!!!! and 10 year old can read and comprehend this ....after almost 40 years of dirt track racing and yes i was at the 1st Penton race the was held. Many of you may not remember those days and i am not sure that the one in question was even born then but as a crewman on the wes beverage # 12 miller car driven by Dana Eiland. Even then we had to make the correct weight there were no scales at the track so we loaded the car went to a different location to check weight. so there in this i say you have to make weight and lets just say that Penton may have not had a tech man always and as muched as i have fussed and cussed and grumbled about Timmy when all is said and done he has always been the same A-hole to me even though i have give him hell throughout the years. I know for a fact that he DOES NOT pick favorites and is the most fair techman as long as you d it his way. And since he is the techman he has been given the authority to make these calls. Now i can understand on some very tech issues not something simple as the fact that EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT THE WEIGHT AFTER THE RACE IN THEIR CLASS. But then we have people that have raced for 20 years and still wants to complain about the most simple rule. i have even heard racers say" it weighed XXXX on my scale at the shop" but Pentons scale is the one that counts. In all of my trips to the track as a crewmenber we always made sure we weighed 20 to 40 lbs over not 50 to 75 lbs, Also when we went to the race our car was ready to race and as a team we watched to track to see how much mud was picked up did not use mud as a crutch to pass weight!!! So enough about 20 year in beginner class and still don't understand the rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for my last hurah jst want to add something about crate late model class i think this is a very good class with a great concept however this is some thoughts about how to make it a better class 1st thing is you can buy a 602 for about 3200.00 and a 604 for about 5000.00 this class needs to be a claim class or a techable class meaning it should be race tracks ability to swap your engine with a previous rebuilt one this could be done in order for someone to not be without an engine to race. 2nd thing do away with sealing bolts and tech them. this way they should come from the factory as a kit or as a assembly. GM furnishing them in kit form with part # then you send it to your builder and let them put their finnishing touches as alot of the cars out there not have already done thank you for letting me vent

what class i race in is of no concern to you or anyone but me, re-read my original post, it planely states that i know the rules . didnt say anywhere that i didnt understand. sounds like you are a tag along crew guy who has absolutely no $$$$ invested in racing, just a spectator. so try getting a car. buy the stupid tires they say you have to run (only class that runs them so you have no way to get used ones). 125.00 each . paying your way to the track. getting in the gate. . and then then DOUBLE THAT CAUSE YOU LET YOUR SON RACE IN THE BEGINNER CLASS TOO .. AND YOU PAY FOR THAT TOO. AS A GOOD FATHER WOULD DO. race and get called lite by 10 and 7 pounds and see if you still have a fond place in your heart for a track that d q s you . as for a beginner class. you should look at what we have for rules. no beginner class would allow disk brake rearend , adjustable dual brake pedals, holley carbs , 450 lift cams , and a crate engine . you should know that, since you had all that experiance as a CREW MEMBER !!!! WOW DID YOU GET OUR NAME PUT ON THE CAR TOO? WITH A MAGIC MARKER? MR CREW MEMBER. why did yall even weigh the car ? they didnt have scales back then , yall should have took 10 pounds off and cheated ,they couldnt have a way to checked it anyway, check the finishing order the last couple of weeks. 15 to 17 cars total. regular weekly cars , its falling off. maybe u better get you one of those beginner cars and compete. I WILL COME LOOK FOR MUD FOR YOU oh yeah maybe GMwill try to de code your crate engine post and try to understand what the heck you are trying to get across as far an idea . cause i have no idea of what you are saying. maybe i just dont understand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and by the way i race in this class cause i cant afford to race in others, try it sometime from the hip and not the lip. it might leave a bad taste in your mouth also.
