I and my family have been coming to Greenvalley for as long as I can remember. We have always brought our on beer. Now we get asked do you have a cooler at the entrance to track side parking, of course we say yes. Well we can't let you in with beer. Well guess what Greenvalley speedway lost our entrance fee. I be dang if I will be back again! Just keep in mind of all the money you will be losing. Oh well I guess I will be going somewhere where me and my alcohol are allowed. Any one else feel the same way!

yeah i agree that is a bad move dirt tracks all over the south for years have allowed you to bring your own beverage but now they cant, my dad was one of those that told them to give his money back he would go to talladega for 5 dollars and enjoy himself and thats what he did...he has went to every race at gv for the last 3-4 years but he is sick of the managements ways of doing things just like changing rules mid season

You may not agree with Management and the policy of not allowing you to bring your own beer into track side parking, but that is not Green Valley's decision, it is the State of Alabama's and the ABC Liquor Board. IT IS THE LAW IN ALABAMA that you cannot bring beer into a licensed establishment. NOT GREEN VALLEY"S CHOICE. If you don't like the law contact the State of Alabama and have it changed and I will happily change our practice. I have went to great lengths to explain this on our website and if some would take the time to inform them self, they might be more enlightened as to their negative remarks.
If the track at Talladega or any other track allows you do so and is an Alabama ABC licensed establishment, which sells beer at their track they are in violation of the law and the State of Alabama Liquor Board would certainly frown on it, if they were to became aware of it. If they are not a licensed establishment and they allow you to bring beer and drink on the property, they are putting themselves at risk because they could be legally liable if any person has an accident when leaving the track after drinking on their property. Without a license they cannot get nor have insurance to cover themselves if they want to take that risk, that is their choice, personally I don't want that risk as I have worked too hard all my life just to loose everything over something I could have prevented by having the proper license and insurance. I prefer to have a license and get the protection of insurance, which by the way is very costly.
For those that want to drink, we have a drinking section of which track side parking is apart of. We sell beer at a very reasonable price and I assure you that we don't make enough to cover the $4,000 annual cost of the license and insurance. I invite you to take your beer into any licensed establishment in this or any other state and see how long it takes you to have someone tell you to take it outside of the premises. In fact several tracks that I have been to don't allow coolers period in the grandstands, for which I disagree with that policy.
I enjoy my alcoholic refreshments as well as anybody, but there is a right way to go about it and a foolish way to go about it and I prefer take the sane legal and proper approach.
I further invite you to our website where I quote the law and give a more detailed explanation. I am sorry if this offends some, but put yourself in my place and I believe you would do the same. I have put myself in your place and that is why beer is available at the track for your enjoyment. The cost of gas to drive 60 or 75 miles round trip (at $4.00 per gallon) to go elsewhere costs more than several beers, so I guess I am really not sure your economic decision was very sound. However, I assume some must get some satisfaction out of showing me how really foolish I am, about being right in the eyes of the law.
We will miss you at Green Valley and will always wish you were here, but how Talladega or others choose to do their business is not nor will be my concern. I may loose some fans because of this, but then Green Valley is not to blame, The State of Alabama is, but then why let the facts cloud your reasoning or get in the way of the truth. Because I have the insurance protection, one thing I don't have to loose is sleep at night!
Thanks for listening GVS

I understand that it was not GVS ultimate decision, but it was GVS's choice to get the liquor license just to make little extra money.

lovnthdirt You still don't get it and for you to again make this statement and I quote you
"I understand that it was not GVS ultimate decision, but it was GVS's choice to get the liquor license just to make little extra money." and after I took the time to explain it in detail and you can only come back with that statement only shows that you are blinded by predjudice, don't care about hearing the truth or don't really want to understand it. YOU WIN I GIVE UP IN EVEN TRYING TO REASON WITH SUCH LOGIC.
IT"S FOR THE LIABILITY INSURANCE PROTECTION THAT I GOT THE LICENSE TO BEGIN WITH AMEN & GOOD NIGHT

Oh well, I wasn't seeing it from sued issue either cause there is no way that I would sue someone for my on actions. Anyway who cares anymore might as well leave it alone.

GVS Management can make all the excuses that they want the fact is all they want is to line their pocket. It hasn't taken long for fans and racers to catch on. Just take a look at the stands and car counts. Excuses and poor choises have really taken its toll and I'm sure it will continue as long as GVS is ran by the same people who think the racers and fans owe them something. For someone who speaks so highly of customer satisfaction it sure don't show.
